PCN - wrong colour on ticket

Hi MSE-ers
I got a PCN from a local council yesterday for parking my car in a coach space (genuine mistake), however on the ticket it says my car is purple when it's actually dark-ish blue. Registration, make, model are correct. Do I have any hope of challenging it based on the incorrect colour? Just thought I'd ask before paying.
Cheers all

Possible grounds here for a council ticket, however you should explore your options before handing over your money.
This place deals mostly with private tickets, so you should take this to pepipoo .
A quick search there shoows that the wrong colour may not be a winning point, however there could be many other options opento you to challenge this

Sounds like pedantry to me. One person's purple is another person's dark blue. How is the traffic warden meant to know what the exact colour listed on the DVLA database is?

If you think you can convince the council that it wasn't your car but actually a different car that happened to have the same registration number, and was also coincidentally the same make and model and that no one could possibly see your car's shade of blue as a shade of purple then you might as well have a go.

  • Thanks all - yes it'd would be a technicality but I was just curious of others' experiences as this is my first parking ticket in many many years of driving.
It's definitely blue, no one has ever said purple before, but seeing as they got everything else right
It's a fair cop, I was in a coach space, even if I didn't realise it (I wasn't the only one they ticketed so I wasn't alone in my mistake).
    Cheers everyone.

You might have other grounds for appeal.  Always show your PCN on pepipoo.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
