Faulty item return request

Sold an item in June. (Private sale) and the buyer has emailed this morning to say that it has broken and wants to know what I am going to do.
I purchased the item on Amazon who have agreed to refund after I return it, which would involve either having it posted back or getting the buyer to post it to Amazon. Amazon also suggested emailing the manufacturer as it is under warranty with them.
I am not adverse to refunding the buyer, however they haven't offered much information about the problem and I don't want to engage with them then not refund as I know that can be frowned upon by eBay.

I would have said sorry but you have had the item for in excess of two months so no refund.
Problem you have is that if you accept it back and it has broken because of mishandling or similar Amazon may refuse to refund anyway.2 -
As a private seller you aren’t obliged to accept the return, if you do arrange for the return then you would have to refund when you get it back and before you get any refund from Amazon.
I wouldn’t over complicate matters by trying to put the buyer and Amazon into contact with each other.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks both. I think I am going to ignore temporarily as I have had similar before and they've just been 'trying it on'.0

To follow-up, I ignored temporarily and got more messages. I explained that I am not a business seller and I was selling the item as it was an unwanted gift.
I had a reply telling me that they didn't know why I was saying I was a private seller and it was a gift as it had no relevance.
They have since reached out again telling me that "since you're the agent for the manufacturer you're obliged to do something".
Going to cease all further correspondence.0
