Wife has a 64 plate Ford Fiesta and it runs like a dream. Im jealous coz mine is awful, however, we have stumbled across an issue that should be easily fixed but I cant work it out.

She has always been abl to link her phone up to the Sync system on the car and be able to make/recieve calls. All of a sudden she cant. She has an Iphone, I have checked and it says her phone isnt connected. I have delteted her phone off and tried reconnecting as if it was the first time pairing and it wont connect. I even tried it with my sons phone and my phone and Sync wont connect. I have a 64 plate focus and cant use the sat nav on the car (not that I did) as the card is out of date. Could my wifes car have the same issue or can someone shed any light as to why we cant get her car to pair with anything.

Again, I have tried:

Turning her and my phone on and off and reconnect
Delete the phones off her car and pair them again as if its the first time we have done it

Any advice would be greatfully recieved

Have you checked for SYNC updates at https://www.ford.co.uk/support/sync-maps-updates using the car's VIN

A master reset of the sync system might help? The link mentions that.

It may be the bluetooth module has a fault / failed though?  https://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/128741-sync-2-bluetooth-issues/

Thank you Rodders, I have checked and it needs updating. Is that something they can only do at fords or can I do that?

On my 19 plate Galaxy, I download an update file, extract it to a USB stick and plug that into the head unit.

There should be instructions on what to do on that Ford website...

The title says Fiesta but the post says Focus (actually it suggests you both have a 64 plate Focus), not sure that it'll make any difference as I imagine the SYNC system is similar in both but it might be best to clarify. For what it's worth my 65 plate Fiesta does very occasionally lose SYNC but I've always been able to reconnect my phone without any trouble.
