YouGov Growth Potential

Hello you wonderful and intelligent people that make up this forum. I sincerely hope you are doing well and keeping positive.
I have been doing some research into the YouGov stock and over the next few years earnings are supposed to increase by 65%. Some hedge funds specialising in small cap stocks also hold this company. I have done alot of research into the company's Annual Report, competitors and wider market trends. So far i have spent around 6 - 7 hours researching it, can i kindly ask would you say is this enough research to feel comfortable with an investment? If anyone kindly had any thoughts on this i would be forever grateful and thankful.
I feel i over research things and spend too long obsessing over information, hearing about people spending 25 hours minimum before selecting an investment and feeling i have to be like them. If anyone kindly had any thoughts on this it would mean the world to me.
Sending you lots of good wishes and i very much hope you have an amazing life and become successful. All the very best to you and take care.

I would say 6-7 hours is long enough to adequately research a single company. You should assume everything you will have reviewed has been thoroughly digested by other market participants and has been factored in to the current share price. They are one of a relatively small number of UK tech listings, and have a very good reputation for accuracy as a pollster. Most importantly, they very generously pay me £50 per quarter to peek into a few of my bank accounts and credit cards, so I wish them every success in the future.

Thank you very much masonic for taking the time to reply that was very kind of you. I truly hope you are doing well.
That has been very helpful to me regarding my own processes when evaluating stocks, its also very kind of you to mention that i should assume everything has been thoroughly digested by other market participants and factored into the current share price. I am pleased to hear that they generously pay you £50 per quarter to peek into a few of your bank accounts.
Thanks for your help masonic its more appreciated than you may know. Sending you lots of good wishes and i wish you every success in the future.

I don't think anyone could accurately tell you how many hours are "enough". An hour is simply a measurement of time and gives no information to us whatsoever about how much you actually understand the research you did, or the quality of information you were able to find.
For one person a few hours will do, for another they could spend days reading about it and still be none the wiser.2 -
Knowing every last bit about a company will not give you any guarantees about their future performance.

Yeah no guarantees all down to future growth and market sentiment so anything can happen to your chosen share. As I keep posting forward earnings are vital and in the case of YOUGOV they are pretty good to say the least. Both links estimate increasing sales, profits ,EPS and dividend . Earnings per share ( EPS) are around 40p in 2025 so at 900p on a P/E valuation of 22 . Up with events ? well who knows but this is what you've got to contend with in growing companies. Can't afford to slow down as the price will either go sideways or lower as it's on a premium to the general market . Perhaps on other valuations it's similar I don't know ?

Buying in lower than recent highs over last 6 months. Technically oversold last few months just like most of the market really.

Long view if you're holding for years I look at the weekly timeframe and use the MACD setting . Basically above the zero run with it. Early 2022 it broke below zero to SELL and is now just returning to BUY signal. Short term daily and long term in BUY range. A guide I use at the end of the day . Keeps you out of trouble and some kind of stop loss . Well the OP did ask about TA last week so there's my attempt.

Thank you ever so much coastline for your kind response, what a wonderful human being you are. For also remembering i asked about Technical Analysis a week ago.
Regarding forward earnings they do look good, but like you mentioned its whether they can sustain the growth and find ways to keep growing, to capture more market share. Can i kindly please ask regarding your last comment on the Long View looking at the weekly timeframe with the MACD setting, how can you see the BUY signal please, do you have any more information what shows this in the BUY range? I have reviewed the chart you provided but sadly could not fully understand where the signal is. Sorry to ask but i am still very new to Technical Analysis, if you kindly had any more information on this i would be forever grateful and thankful, it would mean the world to me.
Sending you lots of good wishes coastline and i very much hope you have continued success. All the very best to you and hope you are keeping well and happy.1 -

A simple monthly chart with a 5 month (150day) moving average is another I have bookmarked. Again it keeps you out of trouble. Keep repeating myself here single shares don't go on forever even if forward earnings are respectable. They can simply get way ahead of themselves especially in a growth phase ( bit like the dotcom boom ) . A profit is a profit and move on or even buy in again. End of the day who would have thought Banks ,Oils , Telecoms would have slumped in the FTSE.

Looking at valuations selecting the Fundamentals tab the historic P/E is 37 . Maybe why stock price has slowed recently (apart from market sentiment of late) ? Forward P/E is 22 for 2025 as links show in previous message . Still analysts are hopeful.
