Smart meter fitted but not able to connect

I had a smart meter fitted a couple of weeks ago. The fitter said it wasn't able to connect to the system (NE, so radio connection). When I called them up to see what could be done, they said I had to wait 6-8 week, to see if it managed to connect. How can I tell if it has connected, as they never set up the in-home device due to it not being able to connect anyway.

Exactly the same thing happened to me on Tuesday. A new Smart meter was installed but the Comms Hub could not connect. I was denied the IHD (or what I presume was the IHD, I was only given a glimpse). I am also in the north on Arqiva LRR. I was told I might get a better aerial fitted in due course; no suggestion that it might come right of its own accord.
Edit: But looking at my account online there is a reading from the day after the meter was fitted. How often should I expect to see updates?Reed0 -
Having used UHF radios for years, UHF is anything but long range. At ground level, I suspect that many relay stations are needed which like most infrastructure projects get stuck in the NIMBY planning process. It might be worth looking at your local Planning Portal to see if any approvals are lending.
Fylingdales is a separate issue. It is listed in aeronautical documents as a High Intensity Radio Transmission Area which has both lateral and vertical overflight restrictions. SmartEnergyGB appears to have a solution for this interference issue.0 -

You an buy an adequate one for under £20. If the comms hub has a port for an external antenna, adding one should be trivial.(Im in the south so have a Telefonica hub, and can't check for an antenna port.)N. Hampshire, he/him. Why wasn't the op given his IHD though ?
Is the WAN not connecting up really an indication the HAn wouldn't link to IHD.
