Tips on transferring large amount overseas

We'v left the UK and are selling our house.
I was just wondering if anybody has any tips on the best way to move the proceeds of that overseas?

We've transferred some smaller amounts using brokers like TorFX so far as the bank's rates but was wondering if there is a (safe) way to get a better deal on larger amounts.

Transferring to which country? Some of the brokers only deal in the biggest currencies, so if you're looking for something slightly out of the mainstream that may limit who can be used.

The amount may also be worth taking into consideration, if it's a very big sum then it's possible that booking a rate with your bank may get you a better deal than using a broker.

To Euros.Technically actually 3 different countries (quite a few banks operate here under a banking license from elsewhere in the Eurozone)
