I have a 30+ year old (corded) B&D hammer drill (push button/digital display)
It lives in the garage (damp ?)
It does still work and has never failed me
Is it safe to use ?0

Keep it somewhere warm and dry.I have a Bosch hammer drill that I've had for over 30 years. Still going strong, and have only ever had to fit new brushes once. It also gets heavily abused sometimes (mixing ~20Kg of lime plaster yesterday). Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.1 -
My dad bought a 2000w Makita disk cutter nearly new in 1978. When needed it gets called into action, same safety precautions as any corded tool: always on a circuit breaker, cursory risk assessment of location and appropriate ppe. Unless there is a project ongoing all my tools are kept in the garage, they are stowed away in repurposed kitchen units so out of the air if that’s worth anything.1

I would give it a thorough inspection. Is the cord good? Is the plug intact and not damaged? Is the case of the drill in good order? If all looks good, I would use it.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
