Hi,
Santander are my chosen bank account because of the overdraft facility and the student discount railcard BUT Halifax are offering £100 if you deposit £500 until November. Can I open both and close the Halifax one after I get the £100? I have read the Ts and Cs and there's doesn't seem to be anything preventing that. The £500 would be money from my savings. Thanks!

If there is nothing preventing you doing so, then I don't see why not. Many years ago, banks used to insist that student accounts were fed from student grants/ loans. Now that not everyone takes the loans, I'm guessing they can't be so stringent. They will possibly want to know how it is being funded.I'm a Forum Ambassador on The Coronavirus Boards as well as the housing, mortgages and student money saving boards. Thanks!
It doesn’t ask for monthly funding, and I don’t think they can ask for grant as not everyone gets one.
