In need of a joint savings account

  • I believe most banks will allow you to open accounts online provided they can pass a digital ID check (some just savings providers might not ask for this). If they are able to use online banking, it would be much easier.

I recently opened an Online Bonus Saver with Skipton Building Society and found it easy to use and also has very good instant access rates if you’re looking to store a decent amount in there.

Alternatively, there’s Nationwide Instant Access Saver which has more branch access and online too although the rates are a little lower. Advantage is that you have a separate sort code/account number, whereas Skipton is just a forwarding one if this matters.

There’s plenty of other options out there - or why not speak to their main bank? They may be able to help provide something which is easy to organise.

Presuming they both bank with the same bank, of course - otherwise the issue is likely the same.
