What's going on with Lloyds payment references?

So I will owe my mother from time to time & there's a payment set up on my account. For months/years now all I've done is click the payment, change the ref to reflect the date of the text she texts me with the amount I owe & that was it, job done.
However since the end of July it doesn't work. Once i click send payment, the next page shows the 'correct' reference I've just typed out however when I go to the account & look at the transactions, it shows my final reference I used at the end of July.
When I go in to the payment lists, instead of it showing the latest reference I used (like it used to) it shows the one I used at the end of July.
Anyone else experiencing this or just me?
Next step will be to cancel the payment details & try again from fresh.
Just wondering if it's a Lloyds thing or a my account thing.

On a lot of payments (such as credit cards) Lloyds will not let you change the reference - you have to delete and restart from new.
I haven't made any personal payments in a while so I don't know if they have blanket imposed this rule for all payments.0 -
Just tried it, seems to work fine for me. I changed the ref for an account I pay often, confirmation screen showed updated ref. Transaction in Lloyds app shows updated ref, as does transaction at receiving bank.0

Yes, I got the same problem. Confusing really as I use the dates as references to trace my (irregular) payments to a friend. Now I have to search payments to make sure I've paid.0

I'm going to try and delete the payments & see if doing it from fresh 'resets' things.
Wouldn't be so bad if you didn't have to go through the security faff every time. Maybe wouldn't be as bad if it was a code to the phone but it's a flipping phone call where you have to wait for the ..................[pause]...............hello..........................this is Lloyds bank............................................
Sat there thinking come on lady, it'll be bed time before you finish speaking to me!
EDIT = well that answers that one. Deleted it, set it up fresh with new ref - worked. Then went to make the second payment, edited the ref, sent - everything looked like it should work yet hasn't - it used the previous reference. Annoying.0 -
I'd give them a call. I just tried it again, this time with an account that isn't mine. Updated ref still shows in payee set up, transaction in my Lloyds account and in the recipient's transaction.0
