Stairlift no longer Needed

Hello,

My partner relative had a stairlift fitted however its been over a year since her relative has passed away. So the household has decided to sell the stairlift. I believe they paid £5-6000 (excluding labour fitting charge) for the Handicare FreeCurve curved stairlift than runs on rechargeable batteries that features a Powered Swivel Seat and a Power-Hinged Track. Its around 4-5 years old still in good condition.

If anyone is interested in this Stairlift then feel free to get in touch with myself.

I do not know how much the stairlift is worth now, how much is it worth when it comes to sell?

Which companies buy stairlifts and which companies are recommended to contact to sell to and do these companies offer silly valuations?

They are looking for a quick liquid sale.

Cheers,

Your best bet is trying to find a neighbour with the same style of house who wants it, otherwise the company they bought it from may offer them a token amount, but it will be absolutely nowhere near what they paid. These things are very often bespoke to the house that they were made for so have little use elsewhere.

  • When my dad died the company who installed the stairlift ten months earlier offered to buy it back at 10% of what we had paid them!
We sold it locally and got £200 for it.

We put mum-in-laws out for the scrappers after the company failed to remove it. It was 15 years old though and the house needed clearing pre-sale.

May I ask where you advertised to sell it privately/locally? £200 seems kinda low or is that the scrap weight value?

What percentage is usually a token amount? You saying the company that fitted the stair lift buy it back too and that is my best option that will give me the best offer price?

I'd recommend looking into whether there are any disability centres at all locally, they might be able to advise about available options (or even act as a directory for sales themselves - although it wouldn't necessarily be quick).

You mean they become a middleman and take a cut/commission from selling my stairlift for me?
