Smart parking Ltd fine - Parking charge notice - hiring Hertz 247 B&Q van

Hello,
I received a fine for overstaying in a retail park from Smart Parking Ltd - "Parking Charge Notice".
We were hiring a van from Hertz 247 B&Q van hire. Our car was parked in the car park whilst we were hiring the van. We contested the parking charge notice supplying a copy of our van rental which includes the location and duration of the hire (which matches the parking fine). Yesterday I had a letter saying they're upholding the appeal as believe it was issued correctly. It says that there is signage on maximum stay (240 mins) and we overstayed by 72 mins. Which is absolutely ridiculous given we provided proof that the car was there whilst we were hiring the van and how are you supposed to get to the retail park without a car!
They said we can appeal with POPLA. What else can I do to help support the case?
Many thanks

Complain to the retail park if the Van Hire building is on site. The landowner can cancel it.
You made a rookie error by appealing instead of coming here first. You should never have said who was driving in the appeal. You have thrown away a winning point.
Luckily, there is another winning POPLA point for Smart Parking cases, as suggested by @Grizebeck
