Hours increased does holiday entitlement?

I work full time at a company my hours have always been 35 hours a week for which I get 30 days holiday (including the bank holidays). They recently asked if i would like to do more hours - i have increased my hours to 39 hours per week. - should this mean that my holiday entitlement should increase too? If so what is the calculation to calculate new holiday entitlement for a full year. Thanks

Yes and no.
Before you got 30 days of 35 hours off.
Now you get 30 days of 39 hours off.
You would need to ask HR about how (or indeed if) it will be pro rata'd though as I am guessing this change has come in the middle of a holiday year and you have already taken some.

When you say "previously" do you mean earlier this holiday year when you were working 35 hours/week?
If so, were the 35 hours spread over the 4 days equally - that is 8 hrs 45 minutes worked hours/day?
Or does "previously" mean before you were working 35 hours/week and that the 35 hours have been spread over 5 days, each of 7 worked hours?0 -

actually i don't think the amount of hours makes any difference for holiday entitlement as you were being paid for 30 days holiday for 5 days work, you are still working 5 days so your holidays won't change.
you will however get more money when you do take holidays.
as above talk to h/r as firms are different as to how they allocate holidays.0 -

Best speak to HR and see how they choose to do it

If the OP is working a standard number of hours per day, they will still be entitled to 30 days. What they should be getting is paid for 1/5th of 39 hours for each day they are on holiday. Where it might get messy is if, for example, they work an extra 2 hours on 2 days but 'normal' hours for the rest and want to take a couple of days holiday.What many companies do with non-standard hours is to give the leave allowance as hours rather than days. In this instance that would 6 x 39 hours.1

I think i maybe need to be clearer - so i initially worked for them 4 days per week 8 hour days (9-5) with 1 hour for lunch - I got 4/5 of holiday entitlement which was 4/5 30 days being 24 days holiday. The next holiday year i worked for them them 5 days per week again 8 hour days (9-5) and got 30 days holiday. This next year I'm going to be be working 8:30 to 5:30 monday to thursday and 8:30 to 4:30 friday. so initially i worked 28 hours excluding lunch and got 24 days holiday then 35 hours excluding lunch and got 30 days holiday now ill be working 39 hours per week so will i still get 30 days for will i get 30/35*39?0

I think you may still only get 30 days. What do your Ts & Cs say? If full time employees get a maximum of 30 days then this seems to be what you will also get.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
