Samsung Galaxy A14 - now to dismiss alarm?

I have the "alarm" of the clock app set to go off at the same time every day.  Once it goes off, how on earth do I dismiss it?  I've tried various things but have only succeeded in snoozing it.  I don't want to snooze it - I want to tell it "OK I've heard you, now shut up until this time tomorrow!".  How do I do that?  It's driving me nuts ...

Throw the phone against the wall.  If that doesn't work throw it out the window.

But seriously - there should be something in settings under "clock" to allow for repetition of the alarm or a big X that you press to turn off the alarm once it wakes you up.

On my Samsung you silence alarms by swiping the "X in a circle" upwards. Has to be quite deliberate, a gentle move of the X won't do it.

Throwing it out of the window is also effective, albeit just the once.

Yes, that's what I think there should be.  But there isn't.  Pressing the X only snoozes it for 5 minutes ...

You know, I think that might well be the solution  :)

    Thank you!

With my Pixel I just shout stop and it stops. Worth a try before the window approach.

Swipe the X, nor just tap it.

Took me a bit to work it out as well.
A press/tap of the X doesn't work, you have to press, hold, and swipe up quite a distance.

By which time you are awake :D
Yup, I have a samsung and when I sleepily don't swipe it hard enough it goes on and on.
I'm very tempted by a Pixel phone and just looked them up. However I think I could learn to shout in my sleep so perhaps not.

There are several things about my new Galaxy phone that drive me nuts (designed by geeks for geeks). Only had it a few days but the alarm is the thing that gets me closest to throwing it out the window. Totally white page so can't see to switch it off until I've found my glasses, by which time the snooze has gone off. (Why is the snooze automatic instead of a choice?). Old Motorola had an easily seen blue strip, hit left to snooze and right to stop. Plus nice gentle sound. Lots of useful functions on the Motorola were immediately accessible without having to scroll through several steps first. Not a technophobe, just don't like a lot of unnecessary palaver. Why don't the geeks get that?

I don't think it's geeks. They'd be unlikely to have Samsung. Samsung's bloated OneUI and before that Touchwhiz are notorious.
