How much student loan should I take out??

I'm a welsh medical student who has a lifetime ISA. Is it worth borrowing extra student loan to invest in the ISA to maximise the government contributions I'm entitled to (25%)? The benefits of this for me in the next ten years would be great. However, I'm not yet sure what my future career path looks like, and am unsure as to whether I'll be in a position to pay off the full loan. Obviously if I do earn enough in the long run to pay off the loan, I want to borrow as little as I can now. What should I do? Do I take the risk and borrow more?? Thanks guys

The majority don't repay in full, so unless you're planning on being on the highest earners, it's worth taking the maximum.
And if you do end up being Rishi Sunak, just repay it early.0 -

What are your plans? Medical students could potentially be very high earners, in which case you would end up repaying in full.
If you are going to take some and then end up not repaying it all, you will have lost out by not taking it all. However, if you are going to have a high paying career then taking the minimum may be sensible.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages, student & coronavirus Boards, money saving boards.
