I bought a laptop from Currys 19 days ago. I've had a few problems with it such as computer freezing during dvd playback, error messages.
I was told if I'd opened the box and used the laptop I couldn't return the laptop at all. Is that completely true?

If it faulty you can return it for a refund or exchange , its well within Currys 28 day return policy after that they may insist on a repair even tho this is against consumer law0

I bought a laptop from currys and it started playing up after 2 weeks, i took it back and they swapped it straight away for a new one0

Guess the open box thing just applies to the extra mind changing refund they offer above your legal rights to be able to return faulty items0

Be ready to quote sale of goods act just incase - we tried to return a digital camera a few days after buying for £190 which had a battery run out in less than an hour (fully charged) - we only wanted to swap for a fully working one and had a returns no from Canon and confirmation from them camera was faulty etc and it still took nearly two hours of refusing to move from store, loud complaining and over an hour of phone calls to currys head office, canon customer service etc in order to get it swapped!!! Am glad it was only a few days old and not months - i'd prob still be there arguing with them lol. From what i've now heard some branches dont like to accept items for exchange or refund and will only do so if you talk loud enough for other customers to hear and quote your rights.
You may be fine and get it exchanged no problem but memorise a few sections of the sog act just incaseSome People Live & Learn, Some People Just Live...0 -
Thx for replies. I tried to return but they said they could see no problem with it when they switched it on I explained that the messages aren't constant and they reccommended reinstalling windows!
I now get home and notice the price of the laptop has also gone down by over 100 pnds. I know Currys have a price match but do they do price drops? its been just over three weeks since I bought it.0 -
If it drops in 7 days you can claim the money back.0
