Siemens oven temperature keeps resetting

I came on here in the hope of finding a fix for my Siemens oven, as the temperature kept resetting. I'd set the oven to 230 fan, only to wander away and find it had reset itself to 160. If I subsequently put it back up to the higher temperature it would then stay at that level. I think I have found a fix and am posting this incase it helps others. I wondered if grease or dirt was interfering with the fan or thermostat so I ran the self-clean programme. Lo and behold, everything is now back to normal. Fingers crossed it stays that way, but to date, and several bakes later, all is well. This might not solve everyone's oven problems but it did mine, so maybe it's useful to try the self-clean programme before getting an engineer.

As neither Helen or Embach appear on the list of members I think that is doubtful.  At least when I tried using @ in front of the names they didn't appear.
