Jewellers order delay questions

Hi, long time lurker here.

We used a large amount of Tesco vouchers to buy a new wedding ring, replacing one which was long since lost. The vouchers were used at 3 times value, just before the deal was changed.

We were originally told 2-4 weeks for the ring to be made, this became 6 weeks and finally we were called after 7 weeks to go in and pick up

When we visited the store, the ring was totally wrong, the design in no way matched the one we ordered or indeed what was stated on the envelope containing the ring. We were obviously unhappy about this but accepted that mistakes can happen.

Two days later we recieved an email stating that the correct ring would be prioritised and would be with the store for pickup in approximately 3 weeks.

3 weeks is almost up, we have heard nothing from the store, so called and were told 'it will be in by wednesday', which I am somewhat sceptical about.I hope it does arrive and all is well.

I'm wondering what we should do if the ring does not arrive on time, we originally were told 2-4 weeks and it is now approaching 11 weeks of waiting. Given our experiences with the store we are reluctant to continue waiting, or to take a credit note, but the vouchers can no longer be exchanged for what they were worth when we used them.

I'd welcome any thoughts on this. Thanks

I think continuing to wait is your best option, if you asked for a refund I think you'll only be entitled to the face value of the vouchers rather than the 3x value. Given that the ring is replacing one "long since lost" I don't really see a big issue with waiting a little longer.

I'd just keep waiting... you've already waited this long and it doesn't seem like its anything urgent.

If you ask for a refund you'd only be entitled to face value of your vouchers back.

Agree with the comments above. It’s probably not worth cancelling the order. You’re not at the end of the 3 weeks, and I’d personally give them another working week on top of that. If the item hasn’t arrived by the time the ship quoted then ask them precisely what the hold up is. It sounds like the ring is in transit now, so hopefully will be there soon.

Could maybe ask for something as a goodwill gesture to make up for the delays etc.

If you cancel the order, you’ll only get the Tesco voucher value back, so be losing a lot.

Add in you won't get Tesco vouchers back. Most likely a credit voucher from the store to buy something else.
