Can't scroll down my albums in MP4 player.

I got an unbranded (samsung electronics) MP4 player from Ebay from a seller with a good reputation. Its great but I can't seem to scroll down all the different folders (artists/albums) in the menu. Everytime I get to the "local folder" where the artist's folders are, I can't scroll through and make a selection because 1) I can't scroll down 2) The screen very quicly goes off and then the last song that was playing is displayed. This is very frustrating as the instruction manual is very bad English and doesn't explain this. I have managed to do it before but mainly it doesn't work. I have bought the same player from a different seller and the same happens with that one so it can't be a fault.

I may be doing something wrong. I convert the albums via Windows Media Player's "rip it " function. Then I simply drag and drop the folders (albums) into the drive.

Can anyone help?

Try here http://www.mp4nation.net/support/index.php?CID=faq No 24 . It doesn't always work but once you know how it "should" work then it makes it a bit more bearable.
As an aside mine is just about dead - battery only holds about 1 hours worth of charge now, 18 months old, but it was cheap so can't complain.

Why didn't those instructions work?
Are they applicable at all to your player?
How does your player navigate through it's menus - buttons, wheel etc.?
A link to similar item on ebay to identify it so others might help?
Anything at all to identify it from the hundreds of generic players out there?

Looks the same as mine, firmware might be different though.
Anyway to get to another album I have to press menu to get to list of all tracks in that album, use the << or >> button to get to the / at the top then menu to get to list of all folders then >> button to scroll then menu to enter new folder.
Don't have player with me but can confirm tonight if that doesn't help.

Ok hopefully you got same firmware and this will work.
Starting from main menu - music, movie,record voice etc. use << >> to highlight music and press menu.
(Make sure repeat mode is normal not random (press menu on repeat in main menu then menu on Normal) or else you go round in circles.)
Now on last track played. Press menu and I get local folder, delete, repeat, exit so press menu on local folder and get list of folders. Use << >> to scroll through, press menu on album you want and you get /, press play and you should get first track in that album. Press menu and you get back to local folder etc..
