Hi All
My original post from 2018 was closed so I have copied it here with input from the most helpful @Coupon-mad

Now I have just received today a LETTER OF CLAIM

Should I respond or just ignore ??

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
29TH September 2018

Hi All

I drive for addisonlee and therefore hire their car etc.

After being with someone who parked their car for 6 minutes on the double yellow lines at BP STANSTEAD AIRPORT whilst they went in and bought a drink / used the bathroom etc, i was sent a letter by MET parking ( Addison lee passed on the details)

I read the threads and appealed as the keeper.

I have just received a letter in the post asking for the money again and so i stated again on there website that I had allready appealed and was awaiting a reply .
I then thought that I had better check my emails and after looking back through it , it seems that I missed the rejection email ( NOTHING BY POST ) and so have missed the Popla deadline .

What do I do now ???

How far past the POPLA code are you? The codes work for 33 days, so try it if you haven't already, see if it's still working (test it now, then come out of the POPLA page).

Otherwise, ignore MET and if they ever tried a small claim within 6 years (they are not litigious right now) you would not be able to be held liable because MET won't have sent you a compliant Notice to Hirer.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Coupon - mad,

Thanks for the quick reply .

I did check the code using another website and it says it epired 9 days ago .

The missed email was sent on the 23rd August.

I then even inputted it on the Popla website but it said not valid

I am guessing that "snail mail " is no longer used for a rejection letter

Sometimes they email rejections, and you needed to be checking, but never mind, it's only MET, and you can ignore them.

Come back if (within 6 years) they break the habit of a lifetime & try a small claim.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well I guess I nearlyn made it to 6 years ;)

So on the 21st December 2022 I received a letter of
NOTICE OF INTENDED LEGAL ,ACTION - IGNORED ( DCBL

Then on the 13th February 2023 i Received a

SOLICITORS REMINDER LETTER -IGNORED ( DCB LEGAL )

Now today Ive received a

LETTER OF CLAIM ( DCB LEGAL )

Should I ignore this as well ?

****** I will mention that it was just the letter and no claim forms

Just do what the second post of the NEWBIES thread advises for LBC / LoC stage.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Was it the BP garage itself where there are about 6 spaces to park ... or was this in the Starbucks / Mcdonalds scam section operated by MET
As it's DCBL, you respond denying any debt and request a further 30 days as you are seeking advice

Do remember, it's just DCBL the famous discobtinue boys who just love these very old crap cases.
GAME ON NOW, enjoy the ride and the game DCBL play.

DO NOT BE TEMPTED TO PAY

It was the actual petrol station itself .
Apparently the car was parked next to the pump / against the kerb -allowing people to still use the pump.
And the driver was in the petrol station using there facilities for about 6 minutes.

When you say Apparently, did they supply pictures of the car and signs.
From memory, the garage area is ANPR

What was the date of the alleged event?

Leave it to about day 25/26 if you want more time, from the date of issue of the Letter of Claim, then send the 30 day hold instruction where you state that you deny the debt but are seeking debt advice and therefore require the case to be put on hold for 30 days as per court pre-action protocol.

It was 100% parked alongside the pump and I think they either supplied pictures or i viewed it online.

@Fruitcake the original "alleged" offense was 17th June 2018
