Two Factor verification on Evernote

I'm trying to switch my 2 factor verification on Evernote from SMS to Google Authenticator.  I already have the Authenticator app as i use it for other sites.

On the Evernote website, when I select that i want to use Google Authenticator it shows me a QR code to scan and then asks me to input the resulting 6 digit code.  But when i scan the QR code it just gives me the option to open the URL or view the QR code.

Anyone got ideas where I'm going wrong?

Are you scanning the QR code from within Google Authenticator and not with the camera app or a QR app?

Launch Google Authenticator, click on the + in the bottom right and select the Scan a QR code option.

ah that's it .  I was using Google Lens to scan the QR code rather than the Authenticator app.  Thanks very much
