Advice if you've recently moved to retirement complex please.
Surrounded by packed boxes, 9 rooms down to flat is stressful. We've been back/forth to charity shops parting with items from 53 yrs marriage, and treasured items from a previous generation.
Concentrating on things that SHOULD be done is another issue. We have two lists of those we have to notify, and added either a phone number or email address but not untill we have a moving date. EE will transfer my number /connection, understand, unsure about my router though (ee phone/broadband). Gas/electric meter reading on, departure day. Council re tax. I've read on line that Gov stuff ie pension etc AFTER the move.
Was thwre anything you forgot?

Sorry, I don't follow. If you've moving house and your provider can take your landline number with you, then surely you only have to tell your contacts your new address? Why do you need to tell them anything else if your number is still the same? Your email address doesn't change if you move next door, never mind the other side of the world.1

There’s also water supply company. If your present house is metered for water I guess you need to tell them on the day but otherwise tell them soon after you’ve moved. If wastewater is same company then that’s taken care of but if not, same procedure as for water supply.Regarding your boxes of stuff, picture your arrival and which things you’ll reach for first that will need to be in the ‘hand luggage’ (!) box.You may start to sneeze and need lots of tissues. At least one of you may dash into the bathroom and will be glad you put the spare loo roll where you could find it.You might snag your finger on the cardboard edge. Thank goodness you kept the first aid box handy.Oh no. One of the mobile phones needs charging. Now a cup of tea. Phew. The kettle and teabags are in the ‘hand luggage’ box too.Maybe also a torch, a spare lightbulb, loose change, headache tablets, bottles of water, kitchen roll or cloths, sellotape, scissors. And so on. All the best.
would've . . . could've . . . should've . . .

The one I didn't do and regretted was to notify the post office to re route mail.
Seems you have to do that a while before you move. Being late i thought I'd do it after and that setc up problems too.
In this day and age you'd think it wouldn't matter but no end of irritation I was left withI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

You seem to have most things covered. As already said redirect mail before the move. After the move inform the water supplier, update the Electoral Register.
As you have noted the government, and council, don't want to know about changes until after they have happened.Do you need to register with a new GP?Do you have library cards, store cards, magazine subscriptions, etc, that have your old address? Those often get forgotten about.
I must have had over a hundred catalogues magazines etc. for previous tenants here, and not just the last tenant.
They got 'Return to sender, no longer at this address' and put in a post box, so they have mostly stopped now.Do you have someone who only sends you a christmas/birthday card each year?
I still get cards for previous tenants, with no address to write back to let the senders know that they have moved and are no longer here.Do you have a regular window cleaner, gardener, or similar? On moving day some ready to eat food is usually a good idea.
You might not feel like cooking after a long day moving stuff about, or maybe the cooker won't be working.
Sandwiches, pork pie, salad bowl, cake, basically picnic food. (Don't forget the bottle of wine to celebrate your sucessful move).Hoping your move goes smoothly, and best wishes for your life in your new home.

Thankyou for all your suggestions. Each one I read and cross check with my list. Ref gp, we will have to prioritise this once we're thete. We requested our prescription soobet than normal. I have extra needs due to a urostomy, but have a good stock. Both of us are cardiac, my wife has a balance issue due to tge shingles virus attacking the labyrith. I have ckd stage 3, so we're both a bundle of fun. Two rollators completes the picture i think.

You're probably not relocating across a border, but if so pleas ask for copies of your medical records to be transferred.
For example, England and Scotland's NHSs don't necessarily easily connect with each other or with Northern Ireland's equivalent service.
