Hotpoint Washing Machine Gathering Water in the Drum

Hi all
My Hotpoint WMXTF 742 has been gathering water in the drum constantly. I have to remove clean washing as soon as it has finished the wash again, and have to regularly run it on a spin cycle to empty.

Also, the detergent draw has started getting black mould quite bad in the (unused) inner compartment (see shaded part of drawer pic). I’ve also noticed the blue softener compartment has some softener left behind after a wash has finished. The outer compartment is largely unaffected.
When the washing machine was fitted, my partner purchased an extension for the washing machine outlet which has been cut shorter as it was a little too long.
The pipe used to run along the floor then up into the waste pipe. Now it runs just underneath the worktop and down into the waste pipe.
Has anyone else experienced this issue or know of a fix?

Have you cleaned the filter?
Usually behind a little square at the bottom left as you look at the machine
Edit: I think Hotpoint hide it behind a full length panel at the bottom - prise it open gently with something0 -
Hi NMS.IF your washing machine drum continues to fill with clean mains water when it's not even running and is powered off, that will most likely be due to a bit of grit caught in the machine's inlet valve. This is a 'solenoid' valve, and is electrically operated. It usually sits immediately behind where the inlet hose joins the machine - the hose likely connects to it. Usually accessible when the back panel is removed (sharp edges!).A competent DIYer can remove this, dismantle it - usually easy - and give the rubber diaphragm and valve surface inside a good clean. The current route of your outlet hose could be an issue too, although unconnected to the W/M filling with clean water. I'd recommend you read the installation instructions, paying particular attention to any requirement to have this hose looped upwards to a minimum height, before then going into a waste pipe.Could you post a photo of the outlet hose route, please?1

So I’ve tried to picture the outlet hose route from machine to the waste pipe. I’ve numbered the images to hopefully make the route clearer. Let me know your thoughts.
we’ve checked if it matches up to their height recommendations, and it appears to. Unless we are missing something1 -
That hose route is nice and high - looks fine (as long as it ain't too high? Double check what the instructions say.).
Everything else is coincidental.
The water coming in will likely be as mentioned before - clean? If so, almost certainly a faulty inlet valve. You check this by closing off the w/m valve at the other end of the blue hose and seeing if that stops it.*
Mould in t'compartment is through lack of use in that part - it's always damp, but never flushed through. Needs a good clean, possibly a spray of mould killer - but rinse thoroughly afterwards.**
The conditioner residue is due to, um, er, no idea.
" see the white panel the hose goes to? It looks as tho' that can be unscrewed to reveal the valve. A competent DIY job to dismantle and clean. But, POWER OFF, and get the required info first.
You will be chuffed if you fix this!
** also a result of regular of 'cool' eco washes. 60+ would most likely destroy it, but obviously not a good enough reason. Perhaps do a monthly 90o jobbie on towels?1
