Mini Countryman servicing

Hello... I have today purchased a Mini Countryman. I can go into the display and in the middle and it tells me the car us due a service. It also shows me all past services and what has been done.

My question is... do I need to take it to a Mini garage for it to be serviced and the computer updated?

Id like any future services I do to continue showing what has been replaced etc. I usually use a local garage for all my car repairs but wondered if I can no longer use them.

Many thanks

You can use any garage for servicing.

I know when we brought a Mini from Motorpoint we requested they add it to the electronic mini system. Why dont you ask your local garage if they can do it?

Other car brands like VAG group, only main dealers access the system I think.

If you brought a car today, shouldn't the garage have serviced it? or did you know a service was due and wasnt included in the price you paid?

OP, how old is the car?

If it’s still under warranty it may be sensible to go to a franchised dealer. Otherwise not.

I'm going to guess that it's at least a few years old, if it was still under warranty then surely the seller would have had the service done to increase the selling price (and if they hadn't done it then the OP as buyer should have insisted it was done before completing the deal). So if none of that applies then as @Car_54 says, get it done wherever you trust.
