coop bank failure

Options
we had a coop bank account in 1992 -95 , i got made redundant and the account kept going into overdraft , from what i can remember around £3000 in total charges now my new wages kept going in but were nowhere near to keep up to date with charges of £75 month and interest arrears , paying out around £400 month, we ended up selling the house just to clear debts and then closed the account , in 2010 or around there we went for a charge reclaim but were told all those accounts are now stored in paper form in a storage facility and would be impossible to check , i tried a few letters but was told the same and finally told this would be the last time that they would entertain anymore letters from me, so I gave up. At the time I felt fobbed off , i know it goes back a long way now and I dont think there is any chance of reopening it up.....

The banks won the court case on bank charges in 2009.

Nowadays, it is effectively current or recent hardship cases that are considered and nearly always you need to be an existing customer for records to be retained.   Once you stop being a customer, records are then progressively destroyed over time.

You are also timebarred because of that.

Law of limitations is 6 years, given you attempted to claim in 2010 the clock would have started then, if not earlier, and so 13 years later its certainly statute barred now.
