Insurance for a Land Rover

Last year my wife insured her Landrover Discovery with John Lewis Finance for £528. John Lewis has declined to renew this year. There have been no claims or other encumbrances.
My wife is looking for a new insurer covering on a like-for-like basis. The best price so far is £950, an uplift of 82%. Why is the increase so large? Is this an oddity of having a Land Rover?

I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".

Why is the increase so large? Is this an oddity of having a Land Rover?Certain brands are suffering a massive increase in thefts. Land Rover is one of those. Whilst rural locations don't seem affected by these large increases, towns and city locations have seen people refused renewals or suffer large increases.

In another topic a member is reporting a six fold increase in insurance for a JLR vehicle, so less than double does not seem too bad.1

Certainly run your details through the comparison sites before accepting a 100% increase0

I reinsured the Land Rover with LV after much research. The price rises from £528 to £1,035. A year-on-year increase of 96%.
Our Ford Fiesta goes up from £488 to £678. An increase of 39%.
Meanwhile, the Isuzu D-Max increases from £475 to £510. An increase of 7%.
