Two phones, one number

The watch to phone connection requirement is a thing for EE's and O2's implementation of connectivity for eSIM to phone devices, and they need the phone to be switched on. Don't think it necessarily needs to be wi-fi, it's a 4G device after all. The phone functionality is being provided by the handset.Newcad said:The smartwatch thing (EE do a similar one) only works with iPhones and a few 'Pixel' Androids, as yet anyway.
That's because the phone needs to be eSIM capable. (eSIM is a virtual SIM without a physical SIM card).
It also needs a wifi connection to work, so wouldn't be particularly good on most beaches.
It's not needed for Vodafone's One Number version. The smartwatch can be used as a standalone 4G "phone" without wi-fi / 4G connectivity to the phone. The phone can be switched off.
