CIFAS Marker & Bank Account

Hello,
I have a family member who has unfortunately received a CIFAS marker against them therefore is struggling to open any bank accounts.
Is anyone aware of any that accept? I thought think money did but unfortunately not.
Thanks in advance

    won't
I don't think that, generally, building societies differ from banks in this respect.

I cannot see why a building society currrent account would differ from a bank current account when it came to due diligence on the account holder? Unless perhaps if the building society account had no overdraft facilty, no cheque book and no means of the account holder spending money that they did not have in the account?

What is the CIFAS marker for? I am dealing with a relative who is likewise impacted by a CIFAS marker, albeit in their case they have contested it in the form of a complaint. Having been crash learning all things CIFAS, I would suggest if your relative needs a bank account, book an appointment or go to branch, be honest and ask to open a "basic bank account". These being accounts with no overdraft or cheque book. If they just apply, the application will trigger a sweep of credit files, markers Etc, will flag the marker and result in rejection. The nine largest personal current account (PCA) providers are legally required to offer basic bank accounts, however I have yet to establish whether that applies to people with CIFAS markers against them. PCA's being, Barclays, Co-op, HSBC, Lloyds Group including Halifax and Bank of Scotland, Nationwide, NatWest Group including Royal Bank of Scotland and Ulster Bank, Santander, TSB and Virgin Money.
