A sticker on the board indicates a socket safety test was c/o in 2008 when the meter was fitted, but that's 15 yrs ago now..0

I have some quotes. It's looking like it's going to be around £8-9k which includes the garage

All I can say to you is that putting it off isn't going to make it any cheaper. On the face of it (without any information) it seems a very fair price - in fact quite cheap if anything.

When I was having building work done the electrician noticed that I had similar. it looked like some time in the 70s a dodgy electrician had put pretend earths in but the wires were not connected to anything. Ended up having to have it all channeled out and redone30+ years working in banking0

Is that with them having to work around you living in the house? It may be cheaper if you move out for a while.
If it sticks, force it.
