Boiler problem?

Hi my father recently purchased his council house, it had just been fitted with a new central heating system before the purchase went through.
What my dad wants to know does this come withe some garantee from the council as the boiler seems to have a leek, or is my dad responsible for getting it fixed.
He thought that if the council had a garantee with thre system then it would pass to him when he bought the house.

any reputable guarantee should cover the system regardless of the owner.
if the council had the GCH overhauled then you would think they had a guarantee on it so first port of call would be the council.
your solicitor should have confirmed guarantees during conveyancing
if the GCH is under a year old I would think you certainly have consumer rights.
but firstly check the paperwork from your solicitor for details on guarantees then contact your council dept.

Wouldn,t have thought the council will have a garuntee for a picticular boiler,as these would have been fitted by a Sub Contractor and if any faults occured the they will be called out under their gaurentee.
As you said you dad has bought the house now,his problem. You could try with the council/solictors but weeks will go by.
If the boiler is less than 12mths old try contacting the manufactor(it will have a serial number)and it will be under their gaurentee.A thankyou is payment enough .0 -
