Built in freezer not working - TA10 form

Options
Hi,

Purchasing a property advertised with a built in freezer.

Received TA10 form which says it isn't working. First we have heard of this.

Since it's built in, would be extra cost for us to remove or replace. What usually happens in this situation?

Many thanks.

Easy to replace, most retailers will dispose of the old one for £20 or less, often free. What usually happens is the buyer is aware of it and orders a new one once they have moved in.
  • Well you could ask them to take it with them so that it's easier for you to replace. All these things could break down the day after moving in tbh, so best to budget for replacements.
It's not really worth anything secondhand.
  • What's a working used freezer worth? £50?

Tbh I think it's good they've been honest about it.  When we bought our house, we realised that one of the ovens in the cooker wasn't working and the sellers hadn't said anything.  It could have broken after exchange, but in retrospect I think it was already busted because I remember on our second viewing the owner avoided using it.

Anyway.  We bought another cooker, which was good because we got what we wanted (a gas oven as opposed to electric).

Insist that they leave the doors though. Depending on the age of the kitchen and the supplier of the units, getting replacement doors may not be easy or cheap.
