Hi all, first time poster. We had a 2 week holiday in Sicily but due to an airport fire at Catania airport Jet2 cut our holiday short by 7 days. My question is, what is the minimum they should refund us, would we be due any compensation for our loss of holiday, etc? Any advice would be appreciated

Assuming you were notified less than a week in advance, the compensation for a significant change, as set out in their terms, would be £40pp.
However, in your shoes I'd compare their published pricing for a one week versus two week holiday in your chosen hotel and claim the difference.0 -
The fire was obviously out of Jet2 control so I don't think any additional compensation would be required from Jet2. Reduction in cost to that of the 7 day holiday should be the minimum, plus possibly a discount on a future holiday. Ensuring that the discount is larger than they are always offering on holidays anyway.

Thanks for the comment; Jet2 have refunded us some 30% of the holiday cost for loss of accommodation for the 7 days we didn't spend there, so potentially a small compensation as we were told less than 2 days before having to travel back.eskbanker said:Assuming you were notified less than a week in advance, the compensation for a significant change, as set out in their terms, would be £40pp.

It is not compensation. It is refunding the hotel costs of the second week.
Jet2 are not responsible for the airport fire.0 -
30% refund seems pretty good. The air fair is often the largest element of a holiday cost and that has to be paid irrespective of it being a 2 week or 1 week holiday.
