Has anyone else had a problem with a 3rd party being issued an income tax refund on your personal account without you giving any approval? Possibly related to PPI

There have been a few threads, however I think it often turns out that the 3rd party was previously used to make a claim (uniform, WFH etc) and was never deregistered.0

Yes, we've had reports of people using a company to make a PPI claim or similar on their behalf and have unwittingly as part of the process made the company their tax agent in return for a cut of any future refunds.
The alternative it is a scam with the company just making a random claim that they are holding onto a tax refund for you but need some form of upfront payment first....0
