Shower cartridge removal help

Hi, I am trying to remove the on/off shower cartridge but can’t see to remove the brass casing.  There are 2 small holes which I assume is where I can release the part but I can’t work out how to loosen it. Any help would be appreciated.

These two holes look as tho' they are designed to take a C-spanner with pins, or possibly this: https://www.divapor.com/spares/showers/thermostatic-cartridge/cvp-concealed-shower-valves-absp-10-0004-thermostatic-cartridge-removal-tool.php But you'd need to check the dims.
Any idea of the make and model?
If that cartridge is junk anyway, then you 'may' be able to turn it by placing one well-fitting pin in one hole - a nail or drill bit or similar - and then prising a lever between it and the central spindle and turning. If it's well stuck, tho', it'll be difficult.
Where does the cartridge 'break' from the rest of the body? Can you get an adjustable 'waterpump' plier on to that top collar and turn it?

Get a robust piece of timber and drill two holes to line up with pin holes then place suitable pins in place and use timber to turn part.
Maybe drill a bigger centre hole to allow timber to have a more flush fit to part.
