I assume you mean moving out of your parents house?
What sort of property are you planning to move to - live on your own or sharing, flat or house?1 -
This is really a "how long is a piece of string" question. Renting in prime location in London? Isolated farm up north? How big and how well constructed will effect the bills. Your credit worthiness might affect the size of a deposit might be required to rent.
Council tax can probably be paid on a monthly basis otherwise you might be looking at £1k+ for that. There's going to be some standard bills like TV licence if you watch live TV or access BBC iPlayer - first 6 months will be about £27 a month and then it will drop in half as you always pay 6 months in advance. Broadband - you might be able to look at a comparison site but maybe be paying £30+ depending on all your add-ons. If you're not having a landline you already know what your mobile costs. Water - there may be 2 bills depending on where you are, one for supply and one for waste (no I don't know why either). If you are renting a place for yourself look for the single occupancy discounts.
Do you need to buy everything new to furnish? Anybody at home have extra stuff they might give/loan you? Towels, duvet, linen, that old set of cutlery and fry pans. Check out places like Freegle or facebook market place and charity shops for cheaper alternatives.
You will need a fair bit to set a place up but again this will depend on your expectations when you move in. Cleaning stuff can be a bottle of vinegar and a 1 kilo box of bicarb and some cheap sponges. How good a cook are you? You could easily spend £100 buying basic supplies for the kitchen - salt, pepper, tea bags, cooking oil - or significantly more if you are going to want things like truffle oil and a lot of foie gras!
Lots of stuff you might start buying now to set aside. It's going to be a bit of a rollercoaster ride so do try to keep yourself in check just a bit and not overspend in all the excitement of having your own place!!!
