Santander 2nd account as donor

Hi

Just wondering if anyone would recommend using Santander to get a second account for use as a donor. Topcashback are offering £25 cashback.

Cheers

It's usually easiest to open a donor account with a bank you already have an account with. Otherwise, Santander is as good as any other really in my book, assuming you don't mind a hard credit search. Some of the digital banks (Monzo, Starling, etc) are quicker to open if you want/need a donor account in a hurry.

If trying to get a cashback incentive through topcashback or whatever, keep in mind that cashback often takes a long time to pay out and often doesn't track properly - all issues you'll need to wait to be resolved before you can switch your donor account elsewhere.
  • Cheers for that. Yeh long time Santander customer. I wasn't thinking of using them until I saw the cashback.

    Thanks

As a Santander account holder for 35 years I have opened several Everyday Current Accounts and switched them ... no probs.

When do you want to use it as a donor? I don't think you could switch it immediately....

All transactions will be validated by Santander. There is a 90-day validation period from the application date, after which Santander will confirm the transaction is valid. On meeting the criteria, any valid tracked purchases will be confirmed. Payment will take 4-6 weeks after this time.

I’ve been a Santander customer for 17 years and recently opened a second current account for switching purposes.

I applied late at night and by morning it was open. No hard search and no ID checks were made as I was an existing customer.

I then switched away this new account with no issues.

I assume if you did this too often they wouldn’t take too kindly but doing it just the once was quick and easy for me.

    Hope this helps.
    Best Regards,

Good point I will keep it for a future switch.
