Hi
I’m looking for some guidance in find out if something is actually legal and if I can and who do I complain to.
The situation is my 11yo son comes home from camping and complains that Audible have taken out £7.99 from his go Henry card account.
my first thought is he’s brought a book or credit by mistake but it turns out that Audible tried to take my subscription out of my account ( I had tried to change my payment method but it was so difficult for this Digital assist candidate that I just cancelled and waited for them to contact me) and when they failed to do so they went to Amazon and got another cards details . They didn’t use mine which are available they gave them my 11yo sons go Henry card detail! He has use my Amazon account to make 1 purchase using that card but he has a different name on his card and has never used it to buy from audible. Audible explained what had happened refunded my money but I couldn’t speak to a manager as much as the poor customer service tried.(he even sent a link to show how to disable the Amazon account from doing this. However despite searching through the website etc. I found no way to call Amazon customer service and no description that matched the scenario.

So long story short Amazon gave my child’s card details to another party without my permission and secondly audible made a transaction on a card not belonging to an account holder without the permission of the person in question and without their knowledge.
Am I overreacting to be so infuriated. And if not how do I go about putting in a formal complaint?
Thank you for any help or advice

Yes, you're over-reacting.
You gave your permission for payment to be taken from any cards you're applied to your account.

Firstly, I'm not sure how the legal relationship is set up, but Audible is badged as 'an Amazon company',so not strictly speaking 'another party' in the sense of being completely independent.krale said:So long story short Amazon gave my child’s card details to another party without my permission and secondly audible made a transaction on a card not belonging to an account holder without the permission of the person in question and without their knowledge.
And secondly, as MorningCoffeeVI says, you (and by extension your son when he chose to add his card to your account) have almost certainly agreed within the T&Cs when signing up to Amazon / Audible that payments can be taken from any of the cards registered to the account. .1 -
Audible are not "another party", they are part of Amazon, by adding the card details to their account you give them permission to do this.krale said:Hi

Be careful or Amazon will close your account, it is a breach of terms and conditions to add other people's payment cards to your account, even if plenty of people do this and have a partner's card on their account.krale said:secondly audible made a transaction on a card not belonging to an account holder without the permission of the person in question and without their knowledge.

That card is listed as available for Amazon to use as you put it there. The simplest thing to do is remove the card from the Amazon account.

That would be a second massive over-reaction, when one makes a mistake it is not advisable to compound that with further mistakes.krale said:Thank you for your reply’s, I will take your words for it. As Molerat says, just remove the cards you do not want to use for payment from the account, all you need to do is amend the payment method for Audible, or cancel the subscription and that issue would be resolved.1 -
I don’t see why it’s a mistake? over reaction maybe but it’s just another internet mall, one that when another part of its organisation needed new card detail chose the only card with a different name on it? There were 2 other cards that were replacement for the cancelled originals!!. Doesn’t inspire confidence and trust in their systems.MattMattMattUK said:

If you have any digital content such as films or books, you have purchased. You will lose them.krale said:Thank you for your reply’s, I will take your words for it.
