As a side question to this how quickly can you shift and earn £50 from switching to suppliers with a referral scheme.

I noticed Octopus paid me within 2 days of switching as I deposited £10 as a starting point. When could someone leave them and join another supplier with a switch bonus?

A bit like the bank account switch MSE always promote.

To aid competition for suppliers offering fixed rates with no exit fees why do you never mention that British Gas, Eon Next and Scottish Power do not charge exit fees if subsequently change from fixed rate to another of its own tariffs including back to SVR. ( only if change directly from fixed rate to another supplier)

Eon Next offering customers variable tariff £50 below cap for typical average use dual fuel.

You started a thread on the subject sometime ago, prior to faster switching there was a stated industry requirement that consumers had to wait 28 days before they could switch again, I have since seen a different figure given by Octopus in reply to someone, others would need to ask same question to see if same answer is given.

Eon Next pay referrals within same time scale as Octopus do being as they use same system, EDF and British Gas also offer refer a friend.

Most suppliers have a stated limitation on repeat referrals, Octopus state need to have ceased to be a customer for more than 12 months before can get referral again.

That is no longer necessarily the case with all Eon Next tariffs.
    Next Secure Fixed 12m V1
An exit fee of £75 per fuel will be applied if you change product or supplier before your tariff end date

Regularly a contradictory discrepancy with Eon Next product wording on the subject, when asked by different people they have always stated no exit fees when changing product within Eon Next.

This is no longer the case with British Gas, their current terms state

    Exit fees:
    £100.00 per fuel
(The exit fee is only charged if you change supplier before the tariff end date or switch to one of our variable tariffs i.e. Standard variable but you won't pay an exit fee if you switch to another British Gas fixed tariff)

So you can only change from fixed to another fixed without penalty.

Yes and a neighbour has the princely sum of £200 from such switches. Yet some under 28 days with faster switching in and out. Definitely sounds MSE to me👍
  • Could you please include a section on what the options are if you would prefer a 'green' energy firm?

There are only three green energy suppliers; Good Energy, Green Energy UK (who recently rebranded as 100 Green) and Ecotricity.
All the other suppliers are much of a muchness.
