I have just purchased an e bike at almost £2,200. It is kept in a locked shed overnight and has a key fob immobiliser, a dutch lock and a thick cable I shall get a D lock for.

Would it be a good idea to add it to my home insurance as it's over the threshold of individual items, or is it worth getting insurance that covers theft and being on the road ? It's the type that is restricted to no more than 15 mph. The reason for on the road cover is more if there was a minor accident and it was damaged. It's used for rural roads, mainly country lanes.

Thanks.

You dont get a choice about adding it to your Home insurance if you are keeping it there... you have to declare the values of all items, in aggregate or individually depending if they are at or below the single item limit, you dont get to pick and choose.

The question will be if you want it covered outside of the home on your Home insurance or get specialist insurance
