Holiday claim

Hi all, some advice would be appreciated if anyone has experienced this-my husband and I were due to go on holiday on 12th August. However, I became unwell and had a doctors appointment on 8th diagnosed chest infection given antibiotics .Still no better I retuned to doctor on 11th diagnosed with Bronchitis and different antibiotics given. Have been in bed for 3 days unable to move through coughing so much. We have contacted insurance and need to provide medical documentation, will this be enough to get something back? We were due to fly to Tenerife at 7.30am the 12th August.
I’m sure we have missed the opportunity to claim for flights as we didn’t cancel in the 24hour window. The hotel has a 7 day before cancellation but we needed to cancel after that as I became more unwell.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated 😊

Talk to your travel insurance provider - on the face of it you could have a valid claim.
Your doctor can write  (for a fee?) to the insurers - it may depend on whether you had medical advice to say you were unfit to travel or not.

Thank you. I was unwell and in bed for around 5 days got out of bed for doctors appointments only.
