i was I guess officially made homeless 4 weeks ago. Very last minute.
I’m currently spending a few days here and there moving about where ever I can go with friends etc. it’s getting a bit exhausting!
we are trying to rent a property, quite a large catchment area of the north west.
we are trying to rent a property, quite a large catchment area of the north west.
From Prescot, to Warrington, newton le willows, Leigh, bury, Stockport, Cheadle, Manchester outskirts etc.
we have a combined household income of 100k and looking at monthly rental up to 1100 for a 3 bed preferably as me and my friend work from home.
we have a combined household income of 100k and looking at monthly rental up to 1100 for a 3 bed preferably as me and my friend work from home.
Looking for 6 months initially and offering to pay this upfront.
I have 2 small well behaved, fully trained, grown up dogs.
We have sent 94 enquiries to agents and property listings on right move, Zoopla etc and 89 have come back as no pets, 2 were preferring a family, 2 said too many applications and no space left and 1 was snapped up within an hour of listing.
any advice on how to make this search any easier. Clearly the issue is I have dogs.
one is a pug. He’s 4, he had cancer at 2 and so is very lazy these days.

But this dog absolutely changed my life, bringing such happiness and joy at a time when it was much needed and it is absolutely off the table to suggest he doesn’t come with me. He’s part of the family.
Buying is also currently off the table, just too expensive. I did get an AIP for a mortgage but at 9.01%
im just want somewhere to call home again and not feel like a burden on friends, living out of suitcases and all my stuff in storage.

I didn’t expect it to be so hard to find a place to rent.
Thanks in advance.

Until the rent reform bill comes into force which will mean tenants can have pets (sometimes next year....maybe) you will just have to get lucky.
Post your predicament on social media maybe it will get to a kind private landlord.0 -
You can search on Zoopla and use the filter for 'pets allowed'.
Similarly you can filter on OpenRent for pet allowed0 -
Fixed it you - nothing I have seen in the proposed bill seems to over-ride any lease restrictions/covenents etc that might exist in leasehold properties.Mstty said:Until the rent reform bill comes into force which will mean tenants can Might have pets (sometimes next year....maybe) you will just have to get lucky.

Probably not good advice but I've rented four properties in the last twenty years and had various pets including a dog, two cats, a gerbil and tropical fish and never told any of the landlords / letting agents.

Yes, not good advice.Vannaa said:Probably not good advice but I've rented four properties in the last twenty years and had various pets including a dog, two cats, a gerbil and tropical fish and never told any of the landlords / letting agents.0 -
Terrible advice...never try to hide pets from the landlords/letting agents, what happens when LL does an inspection? Do you hide all your pet stuff? Shocking.Vannaa said:Probably not good advice but I've rented four properties in the last twenty years and had various pets including a dog, two cats, a gerbil and tropical fish and never told any of the landlords / letting agents.0 -

Personally, the dogs wouldn't be an issue for me. Who is it that's looking? Is it you and a friend, or you and multiple friends? I think this may be what's putting landlords off more than the dogs. A family renting a house is more likely to be long term/settled, whereas a group of friends could fall out, get married, move on, and make it more difficult on the remaining occupiers to afford the rent.
I genuinely wish you all the very best.0 -
It’s me and my partner but we have to say we are friends for annoying reasons.gazfocus said:

the majority of emails simply say no pets allowed. So pretty sure it’s the dogs that’s the issue0 -
As a landlord I would take a couple over "friends"roken8622 said:
