Mattress - Vacuum bag

So I intend on getting a super king mattress (packed in a box)
There is no way even a double mattress gets up the stairs here, but it could if I was vacuum packed.
Given that, let's say I want to get rid of the mattress a few years down the line. What's a decent vacuum bag even if it just means I can easily pop it in the car and take it to the skip?
I'd still keep said vacuum bag BUT it'd be nice to be able to take it down there in a way that's easier to handle

Assume this is a memory foam rather than traditional sprung mattress?
Most come wrapped in a cellophane like wrapping inside a box, not a vacuum bag as such. However you can buy cheap vacuum bags which it can go in and you suck the air out with your vacuum cleaner (or many come with their own electric pump). Just buy one of these when you decide to get rid of it.
Or just cut it into manageable sizes when the time comes to dispose of it.0 -
Having had a few of the mattress in a box types, you'll never get it back into a size to take down the stairs tbh. Only way to get rid I would think is cutting it up. Or possibly you might be able to roll it with the help of a few strong people and then buckle it up with luggage straps or similar.1

Makes it a lot easier for online retailers to ship a mattress, and there are companies that specialise in packaging them for the retailers.Whilst you can get vacuum bags for things like duvets, I've not seen any in the sops big enough to take a mattress. Cutting a mattress up isn't that easy either - There is a surprising amount of steel in the form of springs and stout wire inside. The wire is too big for your average pliers, and not that many people have bolt croppers in their tool box. Forget using a Dremel, and an angle grinder is not the best thing to use in a bedroom.

When we moved here the mattress wouldn't go up the narrow cottage stairs.
We folded it in half widthways and used ratchet straps to keep it folded tight while we got it upstairs.
It didn't suffer any damage and made life and marriage so much easier.0
