I use Milk & More, ASDA, Iceland, Ocado, plus Waitrose and Sainsbury's occasionally. This is MSE so most people probably do try to get refunds on missing items, unacceptable substitutes, damaged produce etc.

If you don't, please DO !

I had £22.48 refunded so far this month and that's enough for 24 Aberdeen Angus beef quarter pounders for example or 6 x 500g boneless pork shoulder steaks.

Must admit my experience with ordering food on line is extremely limited to the point of non existent.  I have ordered Christmas shopping from M&S but that was a number of years back and it was a case of writing out what you wanted on a form and paying in the shop for pick up on a specific day.

Likewise I'll order something special from the butcher knowing that there's no way he would substitute or miss anything.  He did however confuse us with his pigs in blankets one Christmas.  We had thought his price of £6 a pack was a bit high but being good quality we thought what the heck, it's a special occasion and ordered 2 packs thinking one for Christmas and the other for New Years.  What we didn't realise was that a pack was 8 full size sausages each wrapped in 2 full slices of streaky.  So each pack would have done for a party of 2+ people when there was just the two of us.  Lots got frozen and were enjoy over the following months.

If I have a home delivery and the food is on its due by date or off I will phone them up for a refund.

A few shops ago I had 8 different items that were either out of date the next day or already turning. Delivery was 9pm at night so was impossible to make use of them and due to having filled the freezer I couldn't freeze them to prolong them.

    Tesco refunded the lot.

I would like to think that everybody asks for a refund for damaged produce and missing items. Unacceptable subs is not a reason as they are told in advance and should be refused at the door, to keep it and ask for a refund is just naughty.

I once had a Sainsbury's delivery which was missing loads of food (probably a whole crate full) When I rang up to complain they didn't seem to believe me, but did eventually agree to redeliver the missing items. Took them two tries though!

Agreed - but I have been lucky before where the driver has said I can keep it and have the refund - in some cases (due to date code and/or amount of time out of the fridge) they just dispose of the fresh/frozen returns.

I usually do report for refunds, when its a blatant **** take.

When was shopping at tesco who had horrific use by date problems, the drivers at the door would often scan the food in front of me which was out of date, saying I could keep it, getting huge chunks of my bill refunded.

I have never seen a supermarket suggest to me unacceptable sub is not a reason for refund but of course perhaps demanding you can keep it makes it look like you playing the system, if they let you keep it, take it as a bonus.  I know morrisons allow refunds for that reason on their website, never had to use it as subs are really rare, but the option is there, obviously in that situation would be allowed to keep the item.

I reported a wrong SKU once, WKD picture was of wrong product, WKD did a factory SKU change which somehow didnt make it to the product page, had to send proof, pics of box and bottles, then after they had verification from warehouse staff, was refunded and a thank you voucher for helping them improve their service (correct website).  I had actually told them I was happy to not get a refund and the report was out of good will.
