DRO application help
Hello
I have debts of about £11k. I'm thinking of applying for a DRO via CAB as I've heard horror stories regarding IVAs.
I just wanted to know:
- Can I apply for a DRO for myself or does my wife's income and debt have to be taken into account (we have separate accounts, and she has £5k worth of debt)
- Are phone contracts and car insurance paid by monthly DD have to be included?
- Would my bank automatically move me onto a basic account?
Thanks for any advice

If you qualify for a dro it would be lunacy to consider an iva
Dros are individual so your partner's income would only be relevant in determining your share of joint expenses
Your bank account may be downgraded - it depends on the bank
Car insurance should not be a problem but the phone may be, depending on how it is set up
