Counterspy

My wife downloaded some anti spyware called Counterspy onto her laptop. She decided not to run itafter the trial period ended and uninstalled it. However afterwards her computer almost stopped working as it was so slow. Hmm I thought. So I did a system restore and Counterspy was back. The computer then seemed to run normally. To double check I unistalled it again and yes the laptop is running at almost stop speed.

Anyone got any idea what is happening. She is running xp home with service pack 2. AVG is the anti V.

Thanks in anticipation.

You could try uninstalling counterspy, then run Ccleaner to clean out any references in the registry that are left behind.

Download and install Ccleaner first before you remove counterspy may be a better way of proceeding with this problem.

Get it for free HERE .

    Hi Rex

I tried to follow your suggestion (I actually run CCleaner on my PC and like it) However, although I was able to d/l it, the programme was unable to open because CounterSpy had been removed by me......I think I have sorted it out now by restoring the laptop to a point before Counterspy was installed at all. I would be interested to know if anyone else has encountered(!!) this problem with this piece of software, that is computer running at dead slow to stop when Counterspy is removed.
