First off I apologise if this is the improper place to put this but I had no idea where else to put it
i tried finding any info about the website online but I had no luck so I decided to ask on here
has anyone else heard of this website or had an experience with them

I'm not really sure what exactly you mean by legit or not to be honest.
It isn't gov.uk which is where you can find information about how to claim tax refunds if you think too much tax has been deducted from any interest payments (interest that has been paid as part of a PPI refund).
As she would need to provide this third party with the exact same information she would have to provide to HMRC I don't really understand the attraction of using a third party?
Your mum would have to gather the basic information but they would (presumably) get a cut of any refund for copying the info your mum provides onto a form 🤔0 -

If your mum is owed a tax refund she will get it but with about 40% deducted as their commission.
She could ask the HMRC if she is owed or even just log in to her Tax account at gov.uk to see if a refund is due - for free.
As I said - you decide if it is a scam.0 -
There have been set ups like this making fraudulent claims, and it is the client who gets the demand for paying it back. By that time of cause the claims company have taken their 40% cut.0
