Made my own butter!!

Options
Looking at the yellow sticker stuff in Morrisons and noticed they had several 2l cartons of whipping cream on offer for £1 each, bought one and watched a youtube video on how to make butter, made a hell of a mess but ended up with about 750g of butter which has gone in the freezer.

Yes it had 5 days left, as a guide you get about 400g of butter from 1L.
I will buy more if i see it on offer again but will modify my method as i made a huge mess, use a DEEP bowl when mixing.
  • I do the same but use the kenwood chef with its cover to do it  (1litre at a time). Usually do 4 litres so get 4 big butter pats wrapped in greaseproof paper.

  • I used to do this when Tescos would clear their cream at 10p a pot on Christmas Eve . Gave the grandkids something to do as whilst Id do the majority in the Kenwood , I would give them a glass jar and let them shake away :)

What kind of cream is that?, i thought it had to be 40% fat whipping cream or butter milk?
What other milk products can you use?
  • I should of said that you can ask at the cake shop in Morrisons and they if they have enough will sell you longer dated.

You can use any cream to make butter, best as above ot make it in a kenwood or something like that. I used to work in a creamery and once or twice a year a bowl of cream would accidentally be left to whip too long, free butter all round. It was lovely.

I was fortunate a few weeks ago to get 8L of Morrisons whipping cream for £4 on a Sunday afternoon. I made just under 4kg of butter and used the buttermilk to make yogurt.
I will probably never be that lucky again, it felt like winning the lottery.
