  • My mother said I would never pay it into my own bank account to then withdraw £3,164.80 and then put it into her fathers account. At the time the RBS bank and her own bank were literally next to each other hers being Clydesdale. What are are trying to do next is ask the insurance company what the cheque number on the first cheque was that was issued vs the 2nd. To find if it was cashed by her brother into his account.

    Clydesdale has a long memory. I was a long-standing Clydesdale customer and left following an issue over how they handled a complaint I made. 

    About 18 months ago I made a subject access request and received hundreds of sheets of paper, with statements dating back to the mid 1990s. 

    It's not what you want, but if they hold similar information for your mother, then you could evidence whether it was paid into her account.

    Memories are faulty and there's no harm checking.
