ANPR didn't register me leaving

Quick summary: I parked in an Aldi parking site twice in one day, for about half an hour each time, but ANPR didn't register me leaving the first time - so it was as if I'd stayed the full time between my two stays, for 8 hours. I have evidence that the car was at my house from my Ring doorbell, between the times they claimed I was at the parking site. I've appealed but they're requesting absolute nonsense such as receipts, bank statements etc. which is completely irrelevant to the charge, and which I also don't have as I don't keep receipts. Furthermore, this particular Aldi parking lot is "for local shoppers only" rather than "Aldi customers only", as it's located in a shopping centre, so they're hardly right to even ask me for Aldi receipts in the first place. What do I do? Thanks

Sounds like a classic 'double dipping' situation. Read up on that and see how straightforward they usually are to defend. For sure, they have not done the correct checksThe pen is mightier than the sword ..... and I have many pens.2

Something along the lines of ( but less of a dogs dinner)To ALDI, on DATE I had to make Two visits to your location store, at (approx times)I was surprised to find that you, through your agents (name of parking company) have failed to correctly and accurately record my vehicle leaving your site on the first trip, and due to a combination of a lack of care in handling data and defective data recording practices and systems, namely so called ANPR systems with no apparent reasonable checks on the data gathered there was no one manning the entry/exit to ensure the data gathered by the ANPR was accurate of you have decided to mark two visits down as oneI have contacted your agents, however they are refusing to rectify their data, and this is causing an undue level of stress and worry, in having to deal with your poor attitude towards customers dataData Accuracy is a key component of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) as principal you are also liable for the actions of your agents .From the Plain Language Commission:

Is the parking company ParkingEye?
If so I cannot see how this could have happened in view of the faq's re anpr (I jest of course):-
https://www.parkingeye.co.uk/car-park-management/knowledge-hub/- What happens if one of my customers receives a parking charge notice?
There’s nothing more important than reputation. We work closely with clients to understand who’s using their car park and what constitutes a ‘genuine’ user to create a solution to suit your operation perfectly. Prior to issuing any Parking Charge or Warning Notice, we conduct a 21-step audit which gives us an 82% ‘upheld’ rate at the Independent Appeals Service’s (POPLA) giving us the best record of the major operators. In rare instances where a customer is issued with a PCN, it should never be a battle to request a cancellation, although we’ll always offer advice on setting precedents for certain scenarios.

AS said my previous post was a bit of a dogs dinner, but it should give an idea on where to take it - GDPR complaint and action against ALDIAs for Parking Eye, data request (SAR) requesting details/personal data held on that person for each 21 step audit and any other details held should be submitted. As for ALDI - you should go in for the kill, they are jointly liable for the actions of their agents - Double dips aka two visits recorded as one are a well known issue with ANPR systems .ALDI are a big enough company to know exactly what they are doing in allowing an un regulated parking company to operate a system that is 100% reliant on ANPR with no reasonable checks ( ie car park foot patrols/ entrance /exits monitored by staff)The big supermarkets/land owners etc dont care -as long as they can pass the buck on to their agents then thats it .Every Double dip with anything but a small independent should be treated as a GDPR breach with the retailer etc being the main target as principal being responsible for the actions of their agents - the same for own space cases where the resident has a pre existing right to a parking space and or areaFrom the Plain Language Commission:

Just to provide closure on this one for contributors, I ended up exchanging a couple of messages with the OP.
In the last one, he informed that the landowner had got it cancelled. Another success for Plan A.The pen is mightier than the sword ..... and I have many pens.4 -
Thankyou @Trainerman - just for my own curiosity would you mind stating which ppc involved?1
