  • Beko. I love them. I have a washing machine going 13 years, a dryer going 10 and just bought a dishwasher and a fridge freezer which is wonderful quality.

Beko is one brand I avoid at all costs! (I came on the thread specifically to say this).
No man is worth crawling on this earth.

So much to read, so little time.

Must have been unlucky. I have never had a beko problem but had issues with AEG, Hotpoint, Candy... I would avoid those brands more than beko. Although candy have excellent customer service.

We had an LG but it had tons of problems and they washed their hands of it bang on warranty expiry, had to do a claim against the retailer which was successful

we then got a Samsung which had a 5 year warranty. Much better

With every make you'll get good and bad reports, for example Ashe above had a bad experience with LG, my LG has been going for about 15 years with very little trouble. I think you summed it up pretty well in your op - Hisense bottom, Liebherr top. personally I'd go for the middle - Beko, Bosch, LG, Samsung, etc.

Just edit to add, the name on the front doesn't always tell you who made it or where it was made.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

I would avoid Beko, Hotpoint and Indesit

Currently we have a Zanussi built in fridge freezer. No issues to date, touch wood!
    I would recommend Bosch too.
  • Had a Liebherr fridge/freezer in previous rented house - it was great and very well designed.

Currently have a quite new Kenwood (which came with the house sale), it is great with decent space but the design of the shelves are not great for tall bottles.

A friend earlier this year, purchased a HiSense American-style fridge/freezer with water and ice dispenser - seems to work great although I wasn't a big fan of the door handles.

So I guess, it is all subjective and all will fail at some point so get one with the longest warranty and the ergonomics that work for you.

We have always been very happy with John Lewis and Bosch fridges and freezers.

I have been using my new Liebherr fridge freezer for a few days now and according to the Tapo device it uses about 1.1kWh less per day (or slightly more than 1/3 of the original usage). If my maths is right I should save about 400 kWh/year, meaning I should repay my fridge in about 5 years. Clearly this is contingent to electricity prices not collapsing, but in my view that's unlikely. My bet is that they will go up, maybe by not much a year, but the trend will be upwards.
I now pay 29p per kWh and the average price seems to be already in the range of 33-35p.

Note: I have been stupid in my purchase, because I concentrate on volume and the look of the freezer and didn't notice that the fridge has one fewer shelf :( I could have returned the fridge in order to get the next size up, but in the end we decided it was too much hassle.

In any case, I would urge everyone to assess whether it would make economic sense to replace your old fridge. I should have done it about 18 months ago (and save a bundle), but I never thought of it.

Congrats! Other than a minor annoyance with the "missing" shelf, it sounds like a good purchase! :)
  • Recent experience. Bought a Hisense F/F, Pureflat model (American style one) for £870 in September last year. Never worked properly, both freezer sections never reaching temperature, fridge temperature fluctuating between 3 and 12 degrees (not good!!!). Black mold grew on the inside of fridge due to the condensation constantly occurring due to temperature fluctuations, food going off much quicker than expected, food not freezing properly in a timely manner etc. Had it repaired 3 times under warranty, never solved the problems. Finally got the agreement to full replacement by original retailer last month.

Replaced with Beko (same style/same cost). Has worked perfectly since we got it. And has a 10 year warranty

I appreciate we probably had a duff model. but I will never buy a Hisense F/F ever again.
